The City of Manitou Springs is conducting a required inventory of water service lines to identify the materials used in pipes supplying drinking water to homes. New state and federal laws require us to inventory all water service lines in our service area. These lines are the underground pipes that carry water from the main line, usually in the street into your home or building. We are required to notify you annually if your service line could be made of lead. Per City Code 13.08.130-A, property owners are responsible for maintaining and repairing the section of the water service line from the curb stop (located in the street right-of-way) to their property. In the coming weeks, residents will receive a letter detailing the material we have on record for their service line. If you believe this information is incorrect, please contact us to assist with verifying the material. Accurate information ensures the safety and quality of your water supply.

Why It Matters:

Lead exposure, especially through drinking water, poses serious health risks, particularly for children and pregnant women.
