The Pikes Peak Bulletin recently won several awards from the Colorado Press Association as part of their 2024 Better News Media Contest.
Heidi Beedle won first place in the Best Social Justice or Equity Reporting category for their LGBTQ reporting, including coverage of Colorado Springs City Council’s efforts to deny Lodgers and Automobile Rental Tax (LART) funding for Pikes Peak Pride. Beedle also won second place in the Best Series or Sustained Coverage category for stories related to a controversial proposed development in Manitou Springs and the subsequent recall effort against Mayor John Graham.
Heila Ershadi won first place in the Best Series or Sustained Coverage category for her series All Our Neighbors, focused on the Colorado Springs Homeless Union’s advocacy work and the personal stories of some of its members.
