Friday, Aug. 19, was not only the first day of school, it was the first day of a pilot program allowing for a safer drop-off for Manitou Springs Elementary School students. Parents can park in the Wichita lot between 7:30 and 8:05 a.m. and their children can cross Manitou Avenue, accompanied by volunteer crossing guards.
