COURTESY OF THE NATALIE JOHNSON FOR MAYOR CAMPAIGN

Join Manitou Springs City Mayor Pro tempore and School Board Vice President Natalie Johnson on Monday, June 30 from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Manitou Springs Carnegie Library as she announces her candidacy for the Manitou Springs mayoral race. This event is open to the public and will be a casual meet and greet. Using her Pink Bike Story as the foundation for her campaign, Johnson will share the experience that firmly established her love for Manitou Springs, but will primarily be focused on how we can work together to support this vibrant, quirky, artsy town.

What are your concerns, hopes and dreams for the future of Manitou Springs during these uncertain times? She wants to know.

Following her launch event on the 30th, Johnson will begin her “Beyond the Pink Bike” campaign. Invite her and her bike to your event or host a house party. These tumultuous times will require all of us to work together. Using her superpower as a strategic collaborator, Natalie is interested in your ideas and intends to continue leading with her teamwork mentality.

Johnson has lived in Manitou Springs for 22 years. In 2005, she opened the doors of Black Cat Books, a local independent bookstore that operated for eight years. She then signed on as the executive director of the Manitou Art Center, where she has served in that position for 13 years. Her community building experience includes: founder of the Creative District in Manitou, chair of the Manitou Arts Culture and Heritage (MACH) committee, as well as 12 various boards, commissions and committees that are Manitou-centric. She is a Manni Awards recipient for Visionary Leadership (2017).

“I am excited to run for mayor of Manitou Springs, and I hope you will join me on my Pink Bike Tour. There’s room for everyone. Come along for the ride!” said Johnson.
