You don’t have to travel far this summer to find world-class entertainment. The 17th Annual Green Box Arts Festival takes place June 27 through July 12 in Green Mountain Falls, about a 25-minute drive from downtown Colorado Springs and 10 minutes from Manitou. Design your own personal itinerary by choosing from a menu of artistic experiences including dance, visual arts, music, wellness opportunities, art and cooking classes, family events and more.

Festival highlights

Green Box is proud to present two world-class artistic companies headlining the Festival: a world premiere performance by Colorado Ballet and a breathtaking large-scale installation by internationally acclaimed artist Patrick Shearn of Poetic Kinetics. Organizers say these prestigious collaborations cement the Festival’s reputation as a leading arts destination.

Colorado Ballet, celebrating its 65th season, will serve as the Festival’s headlining performing arts company. The centerpiece will be the world premiere of a new work by choreographer Yoshihisa Arai. This 30-minute contemporary ballet will feature 18 dancers showcasing the company’s technical prowess and artistic versatility. The premiere will be presented alongside classical works, offering audiences a comprehensive experience of the company’s repertoire.

Transforming the landscape, Colorado Springs-based Patrick Shearn of Poetic Kinetics will unveil “Off the Beaten Path,” a 6,000-square-foot undulating canopy of color. This installation merges cutting-edge technology with inspiration from nature to create an immersive experience. Shearn, renowned for transforming public spaces across the globe, brings his vision to what organizers promise to be one of the most photographed art experiences anywhere this summer.

Plan your experience

Whether you want to catch every performance or only take a single class, check out the festival schedule and create a personalized plan for a day, a weekend, or the entire two weeks. Green Box specializes in up-close and personal experiences, so many events have limited availability. Plan your experience early so you can sign up when tickets go on sale on May 19.

Familiarize yourself with the venues

Events are held in Green Mountain Falls at the Green Box Studios & Farm Stand, Gazebo Lake, Lakeview Terrace, Bear Crossing Studio, Mountain Road Corner, Sallie Bush Building, Church in the Wildwood, Horse Wellness Meadow near Joyland Church, the Fitness Court in Pool Park, and the Skyspace in the Red Butte Recreation Area. Go on a self-guided tour

Visit Green Mountain Falls before the festival and enjoy the free Green Box Audio Tour via YourAudioTour.com. Pick up an Art Installation Map at the Green Box Office and walk through Green Mountain Falls while learning about the public art displays and local history.

Plan a day hike

Green Mountain Falls is known for its beautiful scenery and exceptional hiking. Guided hikes during the festival are perfect for newcomers. Over 12 miles of hiking trails are available year-round. Visit FriendsOfUtePass.org for information.

Schedule a Skyspace show

The Skyspace is a contemplative space that asks you to look up and experience the beauty of Colorado’s ever-changing sky. Enhanced with light and color, the Skyspace offers three unique experiences: sunrise, sunset, and closed-roof shows. Also available are shows enhanced by sound and music. The Skyspace is open during the festival and throughout the year.

Book your stay

Only 10 minutes from Manitou Springs or Woodland Park, 30 minutes from the COS Airport, and 90 minutes from downtown Denver, the festival is the perfect destination for a day trip. If you are hosting out-of-town guests or seeking a mountain getaway, Green Mountain Falls offers many lodging and short-term rental options.

Peruse restaurant menus

Make plans to enjoy breakfast or lunch by the creek at the famous Pantry Gardens or dinner on the rooftop of Cantina Verde. The Blue Moose Tavern offers a view of Gazebo Lake from their patio, and the Black Bear Distillery offers artisan spirits in a 70-year-old log cabin.
