Nov. 1
The Manitou Springs Police Department responded to a suspicious incident on U.S. Highway 24 and Manitou Avenue. Officers contacted multiple people who had local misdemeanor warrants.
Officers saw a suspicious vehicle while traveling east on Highway 24 and contacted several people associated with it. One had several arrest warrants and was charged with violating a protection order.
A backpack found in Memorial Park was turned in.
Nov. 2
At 1043 hours, an MSPD officer contacted a man with a local misdemeanor warrant on Highway 24. He was served and released.
A hit-and-run accident was reported in the 500 block of El Paso Boulevard; MSPD contacted the reporting party at 1258 hours. The suspect was cited and released.
Nov. 3
Officers responded to a cold theft reported in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue at 1437 hours. Suspect information was available, and the investigation continues.
Nov. 4
In the 800 block of Manitou Avenue, MSPD contacted a transient with multiple local felony warrants.
Nov. 5
At 0138 hours, officers stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. A woman was issued a summons for traffic offenses; drug paraphernalia in the vehicle was seized for destruction.
MSPD responded to a cold criminal trespass (auto) in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue.
A domestic disturbance was reported in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. While officers were resolving it, they learned that one person involved had an out-of-county misdemeanor warrant. The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
Nov. 7
At 0038 hours, officers stopped a vehicle with altered license plates in the 400 block of Manitou Avenue. They discovered the driver had a suspended license and did not have auto insurance. The driver was issued a summons and the vehicle was impounded.
At 0645 hours, MSPD contacted a man trespassing at a closed business in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. He also had two local misdemeanor warrants; he was served and released.
Officers responded to a domestic violence incident in the 00 block of El Paso Boulevard. They conducted an on-scene investigation and found probable cause to arrest a man for assault.
COURT UPDATE
Pawel Jakubczyk is due in El Paso County Court for a review hearing on Friday, Nov. 12, according to the Colorado Judicial Branch’s online docket. He was the owner/operator of PJ’s Stagecoach Inn, 702 Manitou Ave., now known as Manitou Eatery.
Landon Johnston, who is accused of vandalizing Crystal Valley Cemetery in May, is due to be arraigned Thursday, Dec. 2.
Jacob Carley, the Manitou police officer accused of sending revenge porn, is scheduled to appear in court for hearings on Tuesday, Dec. 7, and Friday, Jan. 14.
Ashlynne Perez, charged with criminally negligent child abuse resulting in death, is due in court Thursday, Dec. 9, for a review hearing and Tuesday, Dec. 21, for a pre-trial conference.
Her husband, Carlos Perez, is due in court Tuesday, Nov. 30, as his trial begins. Their 4-year-old son accidentally shot himself in the head July 6 outside a Manitou business.
Freddie Crespo is scheduled for a sentencing hearing on Friday, Dec. 3, in the May 2019 death of Jimmie Baker in downtown Manitou Springs.
