Give! campaign helps nonprofits build better communities

Every year since 2009, nonprofits in El Paso and Teller counties have reaped the benefits of participating in the Give! campaign.

Last November and December, more than 3,000 people made more than 9,000 individual donations, with the result that 78 local nonprofits received $1,644,460, including matching grants. The original goal was $1.2 million.

So far, Give! has helped 230 local nonprofits raise more than $14.6 million from more than 100,000 donations.

Give! also increases nonprofits’ visibility in the Pikes Peak region’s communities and boosts knowledge and opportunities for their hardworking staffers and volunteers.

In this year’s campaign, 82 nonprofits are participating. Some are located in Manitou Springs or Colorado Springs Westside, and they help make life in these areas better for everyone.

The Bulletin will highlight three local nonprofits: Medicine Wheel Trail Advocates (medwheel.org) on Nov. 18; Happy Cats Haven (happycatshaven.org), Dec. 2; and Westside CARES (www.westsidecares.org), Dec. 9.

The campaign runs through midnight Friday, Dec. 31; please consider donating money or offering help or in-kind donations. You’ll be glad you did!
