We are excited to announce our latest project to highlight Historic Manitou Springs. We are working with the state to create a “Historic Manitou Springs” special license plate. It will be available to any registered vehicle in Colorado, and you’ll want to get one for yourself!
For this special license plate to become a reality, we will need to gather signatures from at least 3,000 Colorado residents who support its creation.
Colorado registered nonprofits are the only ones that can develop special license plates. The application process was established as a way to raise funds for the nonprofit named on the plate. We will be able to generate a $50 donation from each plate ordered to further our mission, which is to collect, preserve, research and interpret the history and culture of Manitou Springs and the Pikes Peak region.
Funds raised will go toward our general fund, and current projects include building reinforcements and upgrades needed to help us protect Manitou history and the artifacts we store in our museum.
You can sign the petition here.
Once we reach the 3,000-plus signatures, we will work to design a license plate with input from the community. The state of Colorado has to approve the design.
