May 12
In the 00 block of Manitou Avenue, Manitou Springs Police stopped a male driver known to not have a valid driver’s license. MSPD cited and released him. The vehicle, which was not registered, was towed.
May 15
Officers noticed a driver passed out behind the steering wheel at the intersection of U.S. Highway 24 and 26th Street. The man drove away after the officers knocked on his window, but eventually was stopped and arrested on an active warrant. However, the El Paso Country Criminal Justice Center refused to house him due to a medical condition. His warrant is still active and his vehicle was towed.
May 16
MSPD responded to an overdose in the 800 block of Prospect Place.
Officers responded to a citizen traffic complaint near Lincoln Avenue and Sheridan Place. A vehicle was located; the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was issued a summons.
May 17
MSPD stopped a vehicle in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue and discovered the vehicle was not registered or insured, and the driver did not have a license. The owner/driver was cited and the vehicle was impounded.
May 18
The Manitou Crisis Response Team responded to a check the welfare request on a suicidal person. After an investigation, a juvenile male was placed on a mental health hold and transported to a hospital for evaluation.
MSPD stopped a vehicle without a license plate near Ridge Road and West Colorado Avenue. The officers found probable cause to arrest the driver for being under the influence of alcohol, but he fled the scene. While the officers were chasing the suspect, the passenger took control of the vehicle and drove away. Warrants will be issued.
A theft was reported in the 600 block of Manitou Avenue.
May 19
A driver’s license was stolen in the 00 block of Via Maria Theresia. The investigation is ongoing.
A juvenile was involved in theft and a weapons offense in the 400 block of El Monte Place.
Juveniles were involved in controlled substance (marijuana) offenses in the 400 block of El Monte Place.
In Soda Springs Park, MSPD contacted a man with multiple local misdemeanor warrants who was smoking marijuana in public. He was taken into custody and booked into CJC.
Officers received a report of someone using illegal drugs in the 1100 block of Manitou Avenue. After investigating, they arrested a 48-year-old Colorado Springs woman on a local misdemeanor warrant.
May 20
MSPD responded to a disturbance in the 00 block of El Paso Boulevard. After an investigation, a woman was taken into custody on domestic violence-related charges, which included harassment, violation of a court order and cruelty toward a child.
Officers checked the welfare of a man who was sleeping while parked at a gas pump in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. They observed suspected drug paraphernalia next to the driver, woke him and searched the vehicle. The officers couldn’t confirm the vehicle’s ownership and it was impounded. The suspect was cited and released.
A juvenile was involved in an incident in the 300 block of Ruxton Avenue.
May 21
MSPD stopped a vehicle near West Colorado Avenue and Ridge Road. The driver was arrested on six local misdemeanor warrants.
