Happy Cats Haven – Pet of the Week: Meet Leia and Freya, a beautiful tortie mother-daughter duo. Leia is the dark orange and black mom with the permanent smile, and Freya is her soft gray-and-peach daughter. They went through a lot before they were rescued, but now are so happy to be inside and safe, purring and playing. Freya is a bit more shy than Leia but warms up quickly with playtime and gentle petting. They’ll do best in a home without small children but should do fine with other cats and possibly a cat-savvy dog, with a gentle introduction. You can adopt them both for $185, which includes their spays, vaccinations, microchips, food and litter starter kit, and a free well-kitty checkup. Happy Cats Haven: 719-362-4600, 327 Manitou Ave. Adoptions by appointment only until further notice.www.HappyCatsHaven.org, www.Facebook.com/HappyCatsHaven.
Humane Society – Pet of the Week: Greetings, I’m Freya, a 13-year-old gray tiger and white domestic shorthair cat who’s looking for a retirement home. I’m a sweetheart who loves attention from all people, especially when it means I’m getting scratches behind the ears and able to headbutt you to show my appreciation. It takes only a few seconds for me to start meowing and purring to show you that I’m happy. Other animals make me uncomfortable, so I will need to be the only pet. My adoption is $35, and I come with a voucher for a veterinary exam, vaccinations, 30 days of pet health insurance and a microchip, and I am already spayed. Just ask for Freya (1053404). Humane Society: 719-473-1741, 610 Abbot Lane. Call for hours. www.hsppr.org.
