Aug. 30
At 0049 hours, Manitou Springs Police officers responded to a domestic violence report in the 100 block of Ruxton Avenue. They located a victim, who reported a known suspect had caused a serious bodily injury. The MSPD has suspect information, but has not located the person.
Officers contacted a man with an out-of-county misdemeanor warrant at 1308 hours in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue. He was arrested and taken to jail.
MSPD responded to the 400 block of Fountain Place, where a motor vehicle had been stolen in December 2020. The victim suspects his roommate; the investigation is ongoing.
A cold theft was reported in the 400 block of El Paso Boulevard. An unidentified person took a package off the resident’s porch at 2200 hours Aug. 28.
At 2241 hours, MSPD responded to a disturbance in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue. Upon officers’ arrival, the suspect was identified and found to have a warrant. After being arrested, the suspect threatened officers and attempted to influence a public servant. The suspect has been charged with multiple offenses, including carrying a concealed weapon, and taken to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
Officers responded to a cold assault in the 600 block of Manitou Avenue. The victim reported that his girlfriend assaulted him. After an investigation, the woman was arrested.
A phone discovered during the Pikes Peak Marathon was turned in at the police station. A note with the phone said that it may belong to Dominic Ryan Fields.
Purses were left at the Police Department information window.
Sept. 1
At 1353 hours, MSPD responded to a traffic accident with vehicle damage near the intersection of Deer Path and Manitou avenues. A vehicle struck a parked vehicle.
Officers responded to a traffic accident on U.S. Highway 24 at the Washington Avenue Bypass.
A Parks Department employee found a set of keys in Soda Springs Park and turned them in to MSPD.
Sept. 2
MSPD responded to a report of two homeless men in an illegal camp in the 00 block of Capitol Hill Avenue. Upon contacting them, officers discovered that one had a local felony warrant and took him into custody. The second man was in possession of an illegal amount of marijuana and a firearm. He also was taken into custody.
At 2304 hours, officers responded to a disturbance in the 100 block of Cañon Avenue. A juvenile was causing a disturbance. The officers put a mental hold on him and transported him to a local hospital. While on scene, the MSPD learned that a woman there had a misdemeanor warrant. She was issued a new court date and released on a personal recognizance bond.
Sept. 3
An unconfirmed threat against a Manitou Springs Middle School staff member initiated a lockout. The MSPD worked with another agency and learned the person who made the threat lives in another state; the lockout was lifted.
In the 100 block of El Paso Boulevard, MSPD recovered a license plate and items that belonged to a car that had been reported stolen.
At 2207 hours, officers saw a vehicle with the headlights off. They initiated a traffic stop and the driver pulled into a motel property in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue, then drove out of the parking lot and continued out of the area. It has not been located.
Officers contacted a person in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue at 2215 hours. The person was found to have a local misdemeanor warrant, which was served.
At 2338 hours, officers attempted a traffic stop in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue, but the driver fled in the vehicle. The pursuit was terminated and MSPD began searching the neighborhood where the vehicle was last seen. Officers located the vehicle, but multiple occupants fled on foot. One occupant was taken into custody and provided information about the driver. An arrest warrant will be sought on felony charges. That occupant was found to have a misdemeanor warrant; he was issued a new court date and released on a personal recognizance bond.
Sept. 4
A business alarm went off in the 400 block of Manitou Avenue. When MSPD arrived, officers found the building was unsecured. One person was hiding inside and he was cited. He also had a local misdemeanor warrant and was served a new court date and given a personal recognizance bond.
At 0010 hours, a vehicle struck a crosswalk sign at the intersection of Manitou Avenue and the Highway 24 off-ramp. The vehicle was gone when officers arrived, but pieces of it were left behind and have been collected.
Officers responded to a motor vehicle theft that occurred overnight between Sept. 3 and 4 on Taos Place. Vehicle details have been entered in databases as stolen.
At 2302 hours, MSPD observed a vehicle with headlights off in the 200 block of El Paso Boulevard. The officers contacted the driver and, after voluntary roadside maneuvers, the driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. Later, MSPD learned the driver had a misdemeanor warrant from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
Sept. 5
A person was contacted regarding a check-the-welfare request at Old Man’s Trail and El Paso Boulevard. The person was found to have an El Paso County misdemeanor warrant, and was provided a personal recognizance bond and released.
At 0513 hours, MSPD responded to the 800 block of Prospect Place after a criminal trespass in progress was reported. Officers contacted a man they’re familiar with who was in the area, but at the time, they had no evidence he had been trespassing. The resident later provided security footage of the man trespassing on that property and a neighbor’s. A citation has been prepared.
Officers responded to the 3600 block of West Colorado Avenue to assist the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. MSPD spoke to an involved party, who had a misdemeanor warrant from the county. The person was issued a personal recognizance bond and a new court date.
