As of Tuesday, Aug. 17, 922 people have died of the coronavirus in El Paso County since March 1, 2020. That’s an increase of two deaths since Aug. 10.

Also as of Tuesday, 78,298 total cases have been reported in the county.

By far, the most vulnerable age group is 80- to 89-year-olds, with 284 deaths. That is 32 percent of all county deaths, although that age group comprises only 2.4 percent of the county population.

The 20- to 29-year-old age group leads all others with 18,913 cases. That is 41.4 percent of the total county cases, although those people are just 17.6 percent of the population.

According to the covid19.colorado.gov/data website, 7,292 deaths in Colorado are due directly to COVID-19. The state has experienced 593,562 cases, also as of Aug. 17.

The 80829 ZIP code has seen 409 cases since March 1, 2020, and 5,892 tests have been administered. Those are increases of eight cases and 76 tests since Aug. 10.
