It has come to our attention that a committee regarding Ordinance No. 1121, appearing on ballots for the Jan. 18 Special Election in Manitou Springs, may have sent out a mass communication that assumes some residents signed petitions regarding this ordinance, when they may have not.

Understandably, this has resulted in many residents believing that their name was fraudulently signed on the previously circulated petitions. Just because you received this communication does not mean your name was on the petition.

All petition packets were submitted with circulator affidavits stating that each signature was affixed in the affiant’s presence and that each signature is the signature of the person whose name it purports to be.

There were no indications of wrongdoing in the petition process during the city’s review of the petitions.

If any person is concerned their name was included on the petition improperly, they may fill out a 2022 special election petition confirmation form, available at cityofmanitousprings-cityclerk.app.transform.civicplus.com/forms/24705 and the city can confirm whether they were listed as signing the petition.
