APRIL 14
Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of W. Colorado Avenue and Ridge Road. The driver was identified with a revoked license and subsequently served with a summons on one count of driving after revocation prohibited and one count of compulsory insurance.
APRIL 15
Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with obviously fake temp tags. The driver, a 47-year-old Aurora man, was summoned to court.
Officers responded to the Manitou Incline for an Outside Agency Assist with the Manitou Springs Fire Department. A male party on the Incline collapsed and lifesaving measures were taken. The male was pronounced deceased. There were no indications of foul play. The El Paso County Coroner’s Office responded and assumed the remainder of the investigation.
Officers responded to an address on Plainview Place for a traffic accident. The male driver had fallen asleep while driving and drove into an external deck attached to a residence. Following an investigation, the male party was cited for careless driving.
Officers conducted a traffic stop at Highway 24 and 31st Street for speeding. The driver, a Colorado Springs resident, was found to be DUI and in possession of narcotics.
APRIL 16
MSPD officers assisted CSPD officers in identifying a felony assault suspect. MSPD officers, based on various experiences, were able to provide their information to CSPD.
Officers responded to a fraud call for service. Officers contacted the involved party and took a report.
Officers responded to a residence on Waltham Avenue on reports of a cold theft. The victim had a generator stolen from his front porch. There are no suspects at this time. Officers took a case report.
APRIL 17
Manitou Springs Police Department responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle a t t h e I n t emann Trail near Pawnee Avenue. Upon arrival, officers made several attempts to contact the owner of the vehicle. After not being able to contact the registered owner, the vehicle was impounded.
Officers discovered a clear glass pipe with a burnt black residue in it. Officers collected the pipe and placed it into evidence for destruction.
Officers stopped a car driving without headlights. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI.
APRIL 18
Officers stopped a vehicle driving with no lights. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI.
Officers responded to a cold criminal mischief call in the 100 block of El Paso Boulevard.
Officers responded to a cold theft in the 300 block of Sutherland Place. Officers contacted an involved party and took a report.
APRIL 20
Officers attempted to stop a vehicle for fictitious plates. The vehicle eluded police driving by running several traffic control devices and was found minutes later. The driver was arrested and transported to CJC.
Officers responded to reports of a vandalized parking meter at the Barr Trail parking lot. No suspects are known at this time. A case report was taken.
