OCTOBER 1

Officers responded to a call for service regarding a cold motor vehicle theft that occurred in the 000 block of Park Ave. The suspect was identified and an arrest warrant was filed for their arrest.

 

OCTOBER 2

The Manitou Crisis Response responded to a suicidal check-the-welfare in the downtown area. A male party requested MCR take several of his knives, so that he would not be tempted to hurt himself with them. The knives were taken for safekeeping, and the subject was provided with resources on scene.

Officers responded to a two-vehicle traffic accident on Highway 24 near Cliff Rd. Airbags went off on one vehicle and the driver was transported to the hospital via Manitou Springs Fire Department. The driver of the other vehicle was cited and released for careless driving.

MSPD Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a defective headlight. Through the investigation officers discovered the juvenile driver to be in possession of marijuana. The juvenile was cited for possession of marijuana by someone under 21 and released to a parent on scene.

 

OCTOBER 3

MSPD Officers responded to an establishment in the 000 block of Manitou Avenue for reports of a stolen electric bike. Report was taken.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle after observing drugs inside the vehicle and fictitious plates. The vehicle eluded officers by driving into oncoming traffic. The investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded to a noise complaint in the 500 block of El Paso Boulevard. After contacting the driver it was determined he was under the influence of marijuana and was arrested for DUI.

MSPD officers were conducting a patrol check of the Barr Trail parking lot. Officers observed a black Honda Civic with no number plates. As officers attempted contact the unknown male driver left the scene. Officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the vehicle began to accelerate. Due to the public safety risk, officers did not pursue. Officers were able to see the taillights of the vehicle as he went westbound on Highway 24. The vehicle made a U-turn and then went eastbound. A BOLO (“be on the lookout”) was put out for the vehicle.

 

OCTOBER 4

Officers were conducted a business check in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue. Officers observed a male party slumped over the steering wheel in a parked vehicle. Officers contacted the male party and discovered him to be wanted for parole violation. Officers also discovered drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and on the party. The male party was transported and lodged at CJC with no bond.

Officers responded to the listed address for reports on a juvenile having a mental health crisis. On arrival, officers discovered the juvenile to have delusions and not be making sense while talking. The juvenile was transported by MSPD officers to Childrens Hospital and placed on a mental health hold.

Officers contacted a vehicle on a traffic stop. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI.

 

OCTOBER 5

Officers stopped a “homemade” motorcycle after previously observing it driving the wrong way in the road. The driver appeared to be under the influence but eluded officers on foot.

Officers conducted a traffic stop near Oak and Manitou Avenue. The driver was found to be operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest.

Officers responded to a report of a male party driving a golf cart through a local neighborhood and crashing the golf cart in Red Rocks open space within CSPD jurisdiction. The male party was located near Hwy 24 and 26th Street and detained. The male party was transferred to CSPD custody and a report was taken to document the MSPD involvement.

Officers contacted an individual on Canon and Park Avenue about to drive away due to seeing him stumble before getting in the truck. The individual was arrested for DUI.

Officers stopped a vehicle near the intersection of 31st Street and Highway 24. Officers found the driver to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. A Colorado Springs male was placed under arrest for DUI.

 

OCTOBER 6

MSPD Officers responded to a location in the 600 block of Manitou Avenue for a reported criminal mischief. The owner had his mailbox broken off the base and a sign out front damaged. Total value $350. 

 

OCTOBER 7

Officers responded to a location on Navajo for a possible disturbance/noise complaint. On arrival, MSPD officers located two male parties that had been involved in a physical altercation. Both male parties received medical aid on scene. One male was summonsed and released on scene. The other male was summonsed and transported to a local hospital due to high level of intoxication.

MSPD responded to a traffic accident near Crystal Park Road and Manitou Avenue. No injuries were reported, and an investigation was conducted.

Officers took a report of a stolen license plate. The plate was entered into a national law enforcement database as stolen. 

Officers conducting a patrol check of 7-Minute Springs, located two transient parties camping in the park. One party was given a warning and released on scene; the other male party was taken into custody for violation of protection order, unlawful concealment of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
