JULY 16
An unknown male suspect unlawfully entered vehicles in the 400 block of Manitou Avenue and removed property without permission. An investigation is ongoing.
JULY 17
Officers checked on a subject camping in the 700 block of Manitou Avenue. It was found that the 25-year-old Colorado Springs man had an active felony arrest warrant from Texas. The subject was arrested and taken to the El Paso County Jail.
Motor vehicle theft occurred in the 400 block of Manitou Avenue. The investigation is ongoing.
Manitou Springs Police Department responded to a deceased party located in the Garden of the Gods area. Due to this being CSPD jurisdiction, they were notified, and MSPD assisted where needed.
Officers stopped a vehicle near Garden of the Gods and El Paso because a passenger in the vehicle was standing out of the sunroof. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI.
JULY 18
Manitou Springs Police Department officers stopped a car after observing it weaving on West Highway 24. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUID.
Officers responded to a criminal trespass-auto at a lodging establishment on Manitou Avenue. A white male suspect riding a green crotch-rocket style bike was videoed by a witness breaking a rear window of a vehicle and stealing a set of golf clubs. The suspect took off and headed towards Colorado Springs.
JULY 19
Officers stopped a vehicle for weaving in the lane of traffic and swerving into oncoming traffic near Garden of the Gods and El Paso. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI.
The Manitou Springs Police Department took a report of a lost front license plate. At this time, it is unknown if the license plate was lost or stolen. There is no suspect information at this time. The license plate was entered into the local and national data base as lost.
Officers stopped a vehicle for swerving and nearly hitting another car on W. Highway 24. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI.
JULY 20
Officers stopped a vehicle for swerving on the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI.
The Manitou Springs Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance. The male suspect of the disturbance was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. After taking the male suspect into custody, officers discovered that the male party was in possession of an illegal substance. The male suspect was issued a citation for the possession of an illegal substance prior to being booked into CJC for his warrant.
Officer responded to Oklahoma Road regarding property damage that occurred after a truck/trailer was stuck in the roadway.
JULY 21
Officers stopped a car for speeding and weaving on W. Highway 24. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI.
MSPD officers responded to a report of a cold hit and run accident in the 00 block of Delaware Road where a delivery driver hit a parked vehicle but did not stop.
JULY 22
Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding on W. Colorado Avenue and discovered the driver to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Officers arrested an 18-year-old Colorado Springs female for DUI and other charges.
MSPD stopped a vehicle on W. Highway 24 at Cliff Road for careless driving. The driver was arrested on weapons, drug and traffic-related charges. Drugs and a firearm were seized. The vehicle was towed.
