We all know our politics have become polarized and toxic. What we might not know is what we can do about it.

To examine how we can move past the culture wars, please join El Pomar Foundation, Rocky Mountain PBS and the Pikes Peak Bulletin on Wednesday, July 31, for a screening of the film “Undivide Us” from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the El Pomar Foundation Penrose House Garden Pavilion located at 1661 Mesa Ave.

This film screening was rescheduled from its original date and place to accommodate interest.

“Undivide Us” is a film that challenges the idea that citizens who disagree are not capable of civil conversation and demonstrates the truth that, even in our differences, the American experiment is still alive and well.

Following the film there will be a discussion led by Martin Carcasson, Ph.D., founder and director of the Center for Public Deliberation at Colorado State University. His research focuses on helping local communities address differences through improved public communication, community problem-solving and collaborative decision-making.

This screening is part of a statewide initiative called Above the Noise, led by Rocky Mountain Public Media in partnership with the Colorado Press Association, Colorado Media Project and CSU. It brings together a local network of media outlets to create a stronger Colorado by deeply listening to the experiences of people who live here.

Drinks and light snacks will be provided.

The event is free to attend, though space is limited. Please go to Events.RMPBS.org/event/undivide-us-screening-el-pomar/e602766 or scan the QR code to register. You may also contact Leighton Pacheco at ELDProgram@ElPomar.org or 719-577-7017 with questions or for assistance.

You can also go to UndivideUsMovie.com for more information on the film, and to sign the Undivide Us Pledge for Respect to reinforce and demonstrate your personal commitment to listen actively, engage respectfully and lead by example.
