July 2

Manitou Springs Police Department officers responded to two separate criminal trespass auto that had occurred overnight at 2 separate addresses within close proximity in the Beckers neighborhood. There is no suspect information. 

MSPD officers responded to a traffic accident involving city equipment and a parked vehicle in the 100 block of Crystal Park Road. 

Officers responded to a hit and run on Highway 24 at Cave of the Winds Road. Following investigation, officers were able to locate the suspect at their home address and issued them a summons for several misdemeanor charges. 

 

July 3

The MSPD responded to a local motel in the 100 block of Manitou Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle theft. Currently there is no suspect information. The vehicle was entered into the national database as a stolen vehicle. The driver of the vehicle reported that there were no high value items in the vehicle at the time of the theft. 

The MSPD located a male party with an active misdemeanor warrant for his arrest in the 500 block of Manitou Avenue. The male party was taken into custody and later transported to CJC. 

While taking a male suspect into custody for an active arrest warrant in the 600 block of Manitou Avenue, Manitou Springs Police Officers allegedly located drug paraphernalia in the suspects property. The suspect was cited prior to being booked into CJC for his arrest warrant. 

Officers responded to a disturbance call for service occurring in the 600 block of Manitou Avenue.

 

July 4

MSPD responded to a suicidal male party. The male party was cooperative with first responders and later transported to a local hospital. 

A reporting party said his son and daughter came to Manitou Springs from Texas on a family trip and his son never returned home. He said the son’s girlfriend returned home but the son was not on the flight with girlfriend. Son does not have a phone and has not been heard from. [Update July 9: MSPD reports receiving a call from the reporting party that the son had come home. The reporting party was advised that the son needed to go in person to a police station and let them know he was not missing.]

The MSPD took a report of a possible hit and run traffic accident in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue. The reporting party was unsure where his rental vehicle was struck. An investigation was conducted and there is no suspect information, and a report was taken to document the minor damage to the vehicle. 

A commercial establishment in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue called to report a cold theft. The suspect took various sorts of jewelry. 

Officers observed fireworks in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue and debris falling onto cars. Before officers were able to contact anyone, the people lighting the fireworks ran away. The fireworks were confiscated.

 

July 5

Officers stopped a vehicle for weaving in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI. 

Officers stopped a car for no license plate in the 1000 block of Manitou Avenue. The driver was subsequently arrested for DUI. 

MSPD Officers responded to an assault in the 100 block of Beckers Lane in which one party was injured; however, charges were not pursued by any of the involved parties. 

 

July 6

An officer noticed a vehicle on 26th and Robinson with registration expired in 2022, and initiated a traffic stop and contacted the driver. The driver allegedly had registration and insurance both expiring in 2022 and was driving on a revoked license. The license was seized, and the vehicle was towed.

Officers responded to a call regarding young children allegedly on the roof of a house. Officers determined that the mom had a warrant. She was transported to CJC without incident. 

 

July 7

Officers responded to a call of a motorhome trailer allegedly hitting a Quest light pole in the 300 block of Ruxton causing minor damage to the pole. The driver’s information was obtained, and Quest was notified. 

A commercial establishment in the 300 block of Manitou Avenue reported theft of an ebike. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the suspect.
