Manitou Springs Police officers responded to a disturbance on Mayfair Avenue, where a man had reportedly threatened the code enforcement officer. When the officers attempted to take the suspect into custody, he violently resisted and assaulted both officers. He was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
JUNE 19
MSPD investigated a cold domestic violence incident in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue. Misdemeanor charges were subsequently filed against one person.
Officers stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Manitou Avenue after learning that the license plate number did not match the vehicle. After running the vehicle identification number, they determined the plates were fictitious — a criminal traffic violation — and removed them.
JUNE 20
An unattended death occurred in the 400 block of Crystal Hills Boulevard.
In the 400 block of Manitou Avenue, officers pulled over a vehicle that had stopped multiple times. The driver was then arrested for being under the influence of drugs. While searching the vehicle, officers located cocaine and a stolen gun.
The Manitou Crisis Response Team responded to a suicidal check-the-welfare request in Soda Springs Park. After investigating, a man was placed on a mental health hold and transported to a local facility.
At 2040 hours, MSPD responded to a suicidal check-the-welfare request in the 800 block of Chipeta Road. A case report was taken due to allegations of domestic violence, which were deemed to be unfounded.
JUNE 21
A non-injury traffic accident occurred in the 500 block of Ruxton Avenue, near the entrance to the Barr Trail parking lot. Officers investigated the accident and took a report.
A non-injury traffic accident occurred in the 900 block of Manitou Avenue. One vehicle was parked and unoccupied, and officers located the registered owner. After an investigation, the at-fault driver was cited and released. Both vehicles were still drivable.
Officers stopped a vehicle with no license plates near El Paso Boulevard and Beckers Lane. The driver, who had a revoked license, was cited for not having registration or insurance. The vehicle was towed.
JUNE 22
MSPD stopped a vehicle speeding with headlights off near Manitou Avenue and Oak Place. The driver was arrested for being under the influence of alcohol.
Officers responded to the 1300 block of Manitou Avenue, where a man was reportedly behaving strangely. They located a 27-year-old man having a medical issue. The investigation is ongoing; cruelty toward a child and possession of a controlled substance are involved.
In the 00 block of Manitou Avenue, MSPD observed a vehicle with license plates that didn’t match the vehicle. The driver was arrested for being under the influence of drugs; the officers also located illicit drugs in the vehicle.
JUNE 23
Officers stopped a vehicle being driven on the wrong side of the road on 30th Street near Westmoor Drive. After investigating, they arrested the driver for being under the influence of alcohol.
