Heila Ershadi

On behalf of myself and our board of directors, we are very happy to announce that Heila Ershadi has joined our organization as Associate Publisher. Heila has been working with us for two months in a sales executive position and has done a great job.

When I reviewed her resume and spoke with her in depth, I was so impressed with her experience, qualifications and personality. You could say we ‘hit it off’ right away.

Heila began her journalism career as a freelance journalist writing feature stories for Utah Stories magazine, Moab Area Real Estate Magazine, and the Moab Sun News. While simultaneously sitting on Moab’s City Council, she focused on human interest stories, particularly those that would uplift and inspire.

Heila eventually signed on as the Chief Editor and Publisher of the Moab Sun News, a publication that survived the pandemic through strong relationships with staff and advertisers, and a knack for finding creative solutions.

In her capacity as a councilwoman, Heila served as liaison to the Grand Conservation District, Moab Area Watershed Partnership, and the Grand County Homeless Coordinating Committee, garnering a fantastic education in both human nature and the ways people come together to create change.

Heila will be helping me with day-to-day operations and helping Rhonda as an editor and writer for PPB. Heila will lead the way in investigative and explanatory stories that have a profound impact on people’s lives; she will create new ways to engage our diverse local community.

Heila Ershadi

I know she relishes the chance to collaborate with our eager and future-oriented staff.

I believe Heila is just what we need for our growth and development as a truly great, trusted, local news publication.

This will leave me the important time I need as board president to fulfill those responsibilities and to work on developing stronger relationships with our donors, advertisers and community. I will be turning my attention to creating new sources for revenues through grants and personal meetings.

Something that we need so much at this crucial time in our organization’s future and sustainability. The board and I will develop short and long-term strategies to achieve goals and objectives to support sales initiatives, to develop revenue in our print media, digital advertising and events and sponsorships.

I have shared this quote from Sue Cross at the Institute For Nonprofit News before, but it’s worth stating again. “In the next 10 years, we will see a new ecosystem of independent and interconnected news media, a mix of nonprofit and for-profit that each serves a distinct audience but works in consortium with others at the local, state, and national level.”

Please, I humbly request that you help “Spread the Good News” SUPPORT LOCAL JOURNALISM! Subscribe to and support the PPB today! Looking forward to the future with gratitude!
