May 24 Manitou Springs Police weekly report

MAY 15

Manitou Springs Police officers were dispatched to a hit-and-run traffic accident involving a vehicle parked on Cañon Avenue. The suspect fled the scene, but several people witnessed the incident and reported it. They gave MSPD the license plate number of the at-fault vehicle, and the driver was contacted and identified. The person said they thought they’d just hit a curb and happily provided contact and insurance information.

An out-of-state visitor reported that a purse had been stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on Crystal Hills Boulevard. The suspect attempted to make several purchases with a stolen debit card at a local store. MSPD has video footage of the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle, but the license plate is unreadable.

A juvenile was found to possess marijuana in the 400 block of El Monte Place.

MSPD responded to a traffic accident on the westbound on-ramp to U.S. Highway 24 at Manitou Avenue. A 29-year-old Colorado Springs woman was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and child abuse.

 

MAY 16

A juvenile was involved in an incident in the 100 block of Pawnee Avenue.

A resident in the 300 block of Pine Ridge Avenue reported a scam using a clickable link portrayed as a toll service. The victim paid $11, then realized it was fraudulent.

A juvenile was involved in a harassing communication incident in the 400 block of El Monte Place.

 

MAY 17

A male former city employee suddenly appeared in a restricted area of Manitou Springs Public Works on Water Treatment Plant Road.

 

MAY 18

At 0145 hours, MSPD was dispatched to a report of a drunken person in the 900 block of Manitou. Officers contacted the suspect in their vehicle and arrested them.

A person reported that a large computer bag was stolen between 2300 and 0700 hours from their unlocked vehicle parked in front of their residence in the 100 block of Palisade Circle.

Officers responded to a check-the-welfare request in the 00 block of Manitou Avenue. They initiated an investigation into possible domestic violence, but didn’t arrest anyone.

 

MAY 19

MSPD responded to a cold report of a sex assault in the 800 block of Shoshone Place. The investigation continues.

 

MAY 20

Officers located a license plate on Crystal Hills Boulevard and placed it in evidence.

MSPD responded to an accident between a school bus and a parked vehicle in the 100 block of Pawnee Avenue.
